ACLC INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC), a public charter school of the Alameda Unified School District, has designed an internship program that matches Learner’s career interests with local businesses. Internships are an opportunity for learners to gain work experience in a career that they are interested in pursuing before they graduate from high school. The ACLC sets high standards for our graduates, one of those standards being the internship requirement. We feel strongly that learners should explore career opportunities while they are still in high school. Our school is similar to that of a college environment in that classes meet two or three times a week allowing for flexibility for Learners to pursue internships or community college classes during the school day.

ACLC emphasizes self-motivation, self-direction, teamwork, and communication skills. In an experiential and collaborative learning environment, our learners have mastered effective presentation and communication skills, systems thinking, research skills, and advanced technological skills. Our learners have experience in creating marketing materials through Microsoft Publisher and web design. These skills that our learners demonstrate can bring new opportunities to local businesses. If you are interested in receiving more information about the AACLC internship program or if you would like to interview one of our learner’s for an internship, please contact Paul Bentz at pbentz@alameda.k12.ca.us or by calling (510) 521-7123 x3. Please also feel free to get a tour of our school at 210 Central Avenue or visit our website at aclc.alameda.k12.ca.us.
